Lynn Hewitt’s exhibition of patchwork and quilting reflects her passion and outstanding flair. As an award-winning craftsperson, she continues to learn, whilst also being known as a skilled teacher, mentor and judge.
"I am looking forward to sharing my quilts, talking about my quilting journey and meeting interested people. Thank you to Moran and Hazelhurst for this wonderful opportunity."
Lynn Hewitt is a true ambassador of quilting; knowledgeable, giving of that knowledge, gracious and nurturing for herself and others to strive to be better. Part of Lynn’s legacy is the extent to which she has helped, encouraged and supported quilters both new and experienced to achieve their goals.
At the Australasian Quilt Convention in 2017, Lynn Hewitt was announced as the 13th recipient of the Rajah Award. The Award is a tribute to the historic Rajah quilt made by convict women en route to Australia in 1841 and acknowledges outstanding contribution to quilting in Australia.
Lynn is a true ambassador of quilting, exemplified in her quilt teaching, quilt judging, her extensive involvement in QuiltNSW and its various activities and her international quilt tour hosting.
Lynn has taught patchwork and quilting for 28 years; having started making quilts two years before that. Over this time, Lynn has taught at local patchwork shops, at quilting retreats and presented workshops to quilting groups, ranging from QuiltNSW to country groups in Berry, Central Coast, Tamworth, Cobargo and generally across NSW. Lynn is an Accredited Teacher with QuiltNSW.
Lynn Hewitt has been judging quilt shows since her time as President of QuiltNSW in 1999, starting with judging quilt shows of QuiltNSW’s country groups. Since then, Lynn has judged 35 quilt shows, including the major quilt shows in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Darwin. Lynn’s approach to quilt judging is one of total generosity.
