An exhibition of watercolours and printmaking at Moran Gallery Sylvania from 26 October to 3 December 2017 inc.
Our gardens are an endless source of fascination. The variety, the life and death cycles, the successes and failures and the constant beauty. I find daily pleasure in the behavior of our birds – their songs, their squawks, their nesting rituals; they are completely absorbing. My garden flowers and vegetables and compost provide opportunities for experimentation and lots of pleasurable physical labour. And so, for this exhibition, painting these flowers and birds and compost from my garden is an instinctive extension for me. I aimed to capture both the delicacy and complexity of nature from my own garden and from some of the beautiful places I have been where I am completely surrounded by nature – no man-made structures, just infinite natural beauty.
