Judges for the 2017 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize are announced as
Daniel Thomas AM, Emeritus Director of the Art Gallery of South Australia. Daniel is an art historian and art-museum curator, honoured in 1986 as a Member in the Order of Australia. He was once chief curator at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, then Senior Curator of Australian Art at the National Gallery of Australia and, from 1984 to 1990, Director of the Art Gallery of South Australia. He has also headed various professional associations for art history, art museums and cultural heritage. He was a member of the Visual Arts Board of the Australia Council, and a board member of the National Portrait Gallery.
Wendy Sharpe, Artist Wendy Sharpe is one of Australia’s most awarded artists, she lives and works in Sydney and Paris. Wendt is the winner of numerous awards including the Archibald Prize, the Sulman Prize, the Portia Geach Memorial Prize and The Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize. She was commissioned by the Australian War Memorial as an official Australian War Artist in East Timor in 1999-2000. Wendy Sharpe has been a finalist 3 times in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.
